We’re Palestinians

We’re Palestinians

It's raining, it's cold, it's bombing,

And it's starving,

still, I'm Palestinians.

Day by day, morning from night,

still waiting for light.

I have no identity,

imagining myself in the middle of the dead.

No spring, no celebration, no food,

And no water except the faith one day we'll free.

Mother begging for babies back, father begging for daughter back,

And we are begging for our land back,

Still, we're Palestinians.

A small piece of bread making me happy sometimes, starving makes me happy,

Because we're still Palestinians.

Our babies watching and weeping for their parents are no more.

Children eating grass soups, biting their hand as food, still they have faith in the Almighty.

We are homeless, family-less,

we even don't know how long we will starve.

Other Muslim countries fasting for one month,

We're fasting day and night.

We keep fast by paying Taraweeh but no Sehri,

Still, we're Palestinians.

Cry and cry everywhere,

Crying not for a luxurious life but for food, family, and home.

Still, we're Palestinians.
