We Are Not 'Us'

Never did I feel that the hands 

that vowed to protect me forever,

would give me pain.

I felt safe when those hands held me,

but now everything seems to be vain.

Never did I feel that the eyes

that loved to see me smile

would make me cry.

I wanted to look into your eyes

and make you feel proud of my love, 

but now eyes have gone dry.

The heart which beat for me,

is no more beating.

It is engrossed in its own life,

holds no value for me anymore

Love has vanished 

somewhere and it is now retreating.

Those lips couldn't stop talking

never did a day pass without your stories.

But now they talk only when needed.

I am here to listen to you,

still, I don't hear anything except for silence.

The promises we made were only momentary

Love begets love

but now it has gone

and has become temporary.

A medium to be together

A conduit of staying with family.

This life isn't real, it is just imaginary.
