The Sun slid behind the mountain and the shades of orange were fading

Soon the White God of the Night will make His way to the spot of meeting

Trees have shut their eyes; The Sea is calm; and at peace is the heaven above;

Putting all of its nature to sleep the Earth prepares to meet her Love

Twas a busy day for her, nourishing the oak and strengthening the pine

Forming the pearls in the oyster and ripening the fruits in the grape vine

He toiled all day too, controlling the winds and the tide

Travelling all day he completed the chores all along the ride

Every day they had their work to do and they did it just right

But both hearts skipped a beat when they approached the night

The rendezvous of each night played the magical trick

They were bound together for the thin and the thick

Lost were they in each other, like a child would in a maze

He was drunk from her eyes; she was smitten by his gaze

She kissed his longing lips; he pecked her dreamy eyes

They could stay like this forever - without pretence or disguise

Then leaning on his shoulder gently

She questioned him as he listened intently

What keeps us going through seasons and years?

What keeps us from harm and wipes those tears?

What hides us in a safe cavern and calms those fears?

Your love for me and my love for you, my dearest

Gives us the strength to face the tempest

The moments that I spent with you this night

Will help me face the day with courage and might

Our exchange of vows - of faith and hope

Have rooted us firmly and not let us elope

I need your love and you need mine

And we can go on for ages and be just fine

She fell asleep in his arms and now the day would dawn

He had to begin his journey before the day adorns

He put her gently in bed and then he was gone

She woke up with grief and her heart was torn

Still she smiled faintly, because like each day before the morn

He left her with tinkling dew all over her lawn!
