Thousand Miles Of Cotton Field
Thousand Miles Of Cotton Field
Storm gathering around the eyes
Rain threatening to spill, lips quivering in anguish
The corner is cold, dark and dry
Sitting there pale and withering without light
The eyes seep all the tears, flutter and close.
You want to fly
Fly high until one reaches the sky
Soar higher than the eagles
Fly longer than an overnight plane
The storm seems to slowly fade into the far horizon
Its place was taken up by bright clouds.
The sky now decked with thousand miles of a cotton field
Its belly painted with streaks of orange-yellow sparks
Like fireflies buzzing around the fields
Miles and miles of freedom
Miles and miles of hope
Miles and miles of exhilarating joy.
Oh! How you long to be free
From shackles of loneliness and dark dreams
For once, your sleep takes a beautiful leap
Into the cotton fields.
Sleeping soundlessly at the corner is you
The tears all dried up, the mouth slightly agape with dreamy tiredness
As you climb up and up into the vibrant sky
Its body glowing with soft cotton fields.
