The Waves

The Waves

The view is still the same,

The sun, the waves and the bright, blue sea;

But so much has changed since then,

In the reflections that I see.

Charging into treacherous waters,

Without a care, the will to be free,

Always knowing, ever trusting,

That your strong hands will hold me.

The waves sang a different tune then,

As we walked hand in hand,

The rays of the sun showering its warmth,

Leaving our happy footprints on the sand.

When life itself seemed to stretch ahead,

To welcome us into a magical land,

Endless like the sea seemed our love and hapiness,

The dreams that we shared, the future that we planned.

We came again with our little one,

Contended, fulfilled, the excitement,

At seeing his eyes widen,

Basking in our assurance, the waves seemed calm.

Amidst the unknown expanse, our own little island,

The rising waves graceful in sweet symphony,

Tiny feet, innocent chatter, we feel our hearts tighten,

We watch him play, as the sun's golden rays,

Shed glowing warmth over the beautiful horizon.

Today I came alone, seeking some answers,

Watching the sands from my grasp slip away,

The ocean mellow, singing a forlorn tune,

The waters bright no more, tinged with grey.

I let my fears free, my sorrows into the sea,

The tides wreak havoc, but the sea does not betray,

It lies patient and so shall I await,

For a better tomorrow, I shall wait,

For another day.
