The Unprecedented Year

Like pack of cards we fell,

Like phoenix we rose,

Ducking, avoiding the pain, the agony,

Taking wisdom, strength, hope imbibed in the path we chose.

A year such as this was never thought off,

The world came to a standstill,

A million emotions causing havoc,

And you feel like your car is rolling backwards and downhill.

The struggles for once became real, 

Levelling the playing field for all,

Elucidating this fact even more,

United we stand a chance, divided we fall.

Running beside the path, we eagerly wanted to leave behind,

Which was marked with tears and sighs,

It saddened us to see those moments uncherished,

That we wanted to shield our eyes.

Full of ebbs and flows, the year kept us at bay,

Some were able to walk along, some we left behind,

Some were hopeful, while some faced it's wrath,

And some attained peace, yet some were left to grind.

A year of apocalypse some may say, some may rue seeing the tragedies,

But on the contrary, it did bring the world together,

We have come a long way now, and a lot more is there for us to travel,

Do not drop the guard just yet, rather immortalize the sanctity of life forever.

Nevertheless here we are, marking an end to this year,

Together, hand in hand, accepting it as God's will,

Taking new hope, accepting new blessings from the days that went by,

To write new beginnings for a better tomorrow and have our dreams fulfill.
