Our eyes met,

You had cupped my face,

I saw the warmth in your eyes,

I could see my face glowing

I was there, with you,

At my safest place,

Living my little fairy tale with you,

I waited for an another happy moment of ours,

“It’s not working” was all you said.

I went numb, unable to decipher your words.

You kept on mumbling,

Explaining something maybe,

I kept on gazing at you,

Wishing desperately for this nightmare to end.

“It’s time for separation” were your words,

My heart rewound our story,

Remember, you told me

You liked me the very first day we met?

God! I was in my shabbiest avatar,

Remember, our walks?

Our talks about the stars and the moon?

Remember, the time I unveiled my secret to you?

Remember, the first time we kissed

And I let my tears soak your T-shirt?

Tears came that day too,

The sorrow had engulfed me,

I wanted to cry, to shout,

I needed you,

But, you’d suddenly became a stranger

Your eyes were so cold, so uninviting,

As if ignoring my existence, abandoning my love,

I didn’t react, I couldn’t,

A part of me was torn apart,

The intensity of pain was such that,

I could feel my heart no more,

I wanted to hold you,

Hold you tight, ask you to stay,

Stay for a while,

But, you’d already vanished.

I stood there without any emotion,

It was cold again, no stars in the sky,

The trees had shed all its leaves,

The silence pierced me,

The moon looked down at me,

As if trying to provide me solace,

But even the moon that day was distant than ever.

I swallowed the pain,

Absorbing the trauma,

I started walking again,

The scars were deep,

And wounds could never heal,

However, I covered them all,

Because, breaking down into pieces,

Seemed unaffordable.
