The New Normal
The New Normal
The curtains remain closed now,
As the light which once made chalk dust float
Seeks refuge in the classroom replicas;
Only that they fit in our palms.
Coffins abounding at nature's mercy,
Education leaps with faith.
While the world stops,
Web meetings march on unaltered.
Routines stagnated with monotony,
We squint into the boards on our screens.
Unable to perceive as clearly as the old normal,
We lie oblivious of our educational fate.
"Do you understand this?"
A class lies in contrast of answers,
Yet unspoken through the muted audio.
"Please respond", the teacher pleads into the dark.
Satires and ridicules keep growing
In an environment unmanned.
Welled up eyes submerged under necessity,
The teachers continue.
"Am I audible?"
What remained inaudible were the stifled cries
Veiled by the frequent network issues
As some stood marginalized from education.
Strangled remain unheard voices,
The ones who know no satire.
Lying awake with unkempt desire,
To fit into the screens of eternity.
Voices echo in empty classrooms
But of the protests against injustice,
As the pandemic blooms into a lesson
Mankind fails to learn.
Chapters unfold subsequently
Of life as well as books,
Intertwined into the numbness of reality
We accept the theory of adaptation.
The shadows of mortality creep through cracks
Silhouetting the jaded hearts of pre
achers.
Recurrent shrieks of the unhindered internet
Lie awake in the perpetuity of preaching.
Of the fraction of what students acquire,
There is but the lesson of realization.
The satires turn into the devils
Inside their minds flooded with resentment.
For time is but an art,
And the artist nature,
As it paints the masterpiece of reality,
While time resides in it's moralising theme.
Lost morals gained, we carry on;
Hushed audios turned on, we learn,
For we are the rulers of our own situations
And time has done it's trick.
Embracing our new normal,
We wake up to glistening devices,
Illuminated by the reluctance to submit
To the crucification of a virus.
Awaiting with an unfaltering smile,
The teachers choke their agony
With the will to propagate
Education in the cruelest plight.
Chapters are plenty,
Pages abound unending,
But education was sought
The moment agony turned into will.
The intricacies of human evolution
May have predicted a brief stop,
For here we lie abreast
From the paused steps of the world.
Caged in quarantine,
Masked faces battle with the viral gloom.
Trapped in lockdown,
Education awaits redemption soon.
We welcome new days
As the chalk settles on our benches.
Waiting for the current normal to cease,
We lie fixed to our screens;
Praying for the sunlight.
Praying for the sunlight.
