The Mountain Man
The Mountain Man
The mountains told me a story
A legend of an old past
Heavy memories do it carry
Being shared at long last.
Long ago there was a prince
Stripped he was of all riches and caste
Betrayed and wronged by his closet kins
Alone he was, to be so till his very last.
To and fro, he lived his life
So and so, went by his days
With nothing to live, for nothing to strive
He would search for some light to shine his lonely ways
He searched and waited but never succeeded
Failed and defeated he fell to the ground
Finally dejected he thought his life's ended
But that's when he sensed something all around
Lo and behold, he saw the wind
Rising for the grasslands
Bringing a breezy mint
Is this for him he wondered!
Low and behold, he saw the trees
Dancing to the wind's music
Accompanied by humming bees
Is this for him he wondered!
Low and behold, he saw a doe
Looking at him with its round eyes
Wondering what to him does it owe
The prince humbled stands and cries
The prince cried, first tears of sadness
For what he had lost had him greatly pained
Again the prince cried, but now of happiness
For all that he'd lost, the mountains he'd gained.
So this was the tale of the abandoned prince
With all his treacherous and unkind kins
At a time, he might have been a lost little male
But he'd turned into the mountain man, the hero of the tale.
