The Magic Portal
The Magic Portal
Softly gleaming snow-globes,
Dancing iridescence on the walls of my home.
I’ve always known they were magic portals,
To a land of sparkling crystal snow.
Placing one in the sunlight,
I watched it limpidly glow.
Then I took a deep breath and dived right in,
To a wonderland I’d always vaguely known.
I landed on a large, cool snowflake,
And flew away in the air to explore.
Trees of candy and holly bloomed,
In that icy, mystical world.
I tasted snow formed from white chocolate,
And listened to glass angels’ tales of lore.
I rode on wooden reindeers around the kingdom,
To see the luminescent ice crystals kept in store.
The sunlight was tinged with magic,
Like the shining colours of a rainbow,
My adventure felt like a daydream,
From which I never wanted to return home.
But time slipped out of my grasp,
And it was soon time to go,
I woke up holding my mysterious snow-globe,
Yearning for something more.
