The Lucky One

The Lucky One

I sigh when nights come

Reminding me to see the moonlight

Where our shadows dance, your hand on my waist

Mine on your shoulders

As when the sun rises I am filled with hope

To see your eyes dance When they smile

Even though you never look at me

I love the little things

The way you ride your bike

Like you're a hero

The way you wear your shades

Trying to draw attention

The way you climb the stairs

Playing with your feet

The way you conversate

To make anyone smile

The way you eat those chocolates

Like a little kid

The way you play games

So engrossed so serious

The way you understand anything new

Before I can even blink

The way you work

Truly dedicated

The way you operate machinery

Like there's nothing you can't repair

The songs you hear

Singing the lyrics

Melting my heart

Oh damn I wish I could ignore you

But those eyes

When they call me

With burning passion

Even the almighty couldn't save this soul

Although aware of the devastating heartache

Waiting at the end of this beautiful lie

I get to live at least for a while

So let me be pulled into this

Infinite and dark

Bottomless pit

For when I wake up tomorrow

And when the truth hits me like

Ice cold knives right through my heart

With you gone back to her.

The lucky one!
