The Lost Treasure

She entered the college.

As she moved further, there came the same gang,

The one that had played with her brother's life.

They joined their hands, she tightened her fists.

They asked her to sing a song.

She politely asked them to move along.

As they moved a step closer, her heart started beating faster.

They asked her to dance to their beat,

She decided to not accept defeat.

"You can't force me to do anything." She said

"Is it?" They asked, as they moved ahead.

Each move of theirs reminded her of her brother's tears.

"They ragged me." He had said.

The night before he was found dead.

He had hanged himself, unable to bear the humiliation

His words echoed in her mind, his face flashed in front of hers,

That smiley face, the bubbly cheeks.

"You are the best brother!" She had confessed, the previous week.

"Do as we say!" They threatened her.

The people who had tortured her brother,

Were trying to do the same with her.

She was determined to take the revenge.

"No! I won't." She replied.

They grasped her by her arm and forcefully moved her leg.

"This is the first step of the dance." They said.

She looked at them fiercely,

Her eyes boiling with rage.

They were four.

But she knew, she wasn't alone.

With the same leg, she kicked them,

One by one, they were taken aback,

But decided to counter attack.

Two held her arms, the other held her legs,

She was unable to move,

No, not even an inch!

Students started to surround but she was astounded,

When they ogled at her instead of lending a helping hand.

Her anger was at peak,

She didn't want to become weak.

As they held her taut,

She remembered how her brother had fought

She came to her senses,

Thought of different ways of defenses,

She decided to teach them a lesson, no matter what may come.

The two were still holding her hand.

With all her power, she bit them hard.

For them, this was too hard.

They cried with pain and released her hand.

Her hands were sprained,

But she wasn't drained.

The power got transferred,

From her mouth to the her hand,

She hit the other two hard.

They went crashing to the ground.

She didn't stop there.

Her brother hadn't complained to anyone.

And she didn't want the history to repeated.

Hence, she reported it to the officials.

She looked at the gang and yelled. "Don't you dare play with the life of others.

Ragging might bring you pleasure. But, it might make someone lose their treasure."

"Yesterday, it was my brother. Today it could have been me.

Tomorrow it could be anyone close to you." She said wiping her tears.

As she looked at the onlookers, she said, "You all kept mum when I went numb".

They put their heads down. "Someday when you get to know

That your close ones could have been saved but nobody came forward,

You will realize you were also the culprits."

The four were on the ground, injured and abashed.

The onlookers were standing, ashamed and guilty.

She was all alone in the crowd,

She had fought it,

Not for herself,

But for her lost treasure-dearest brother.
