The Distant Star
The Distant Star
On a dark, cloudless night, I saw a tiny, little star.
Twinkling, shiny and bright, From its peers above par.
I stood like a timid kid, And dreamt if it I could touch,
Twirling my fingers roundabout, To mock its grab as such.
I wished I had wings, To fly up in the sky,
And hold that distant star, That’s miles away and so high.
Gazing at the clouds, I sought its flashing light.
It played with me hide and seek, All through the sleepless night.
I thought if they ever meet, Lying modest, meek and coy,
The angels in the sky, To a mere earthly boy.
