The Distant Star
The Distant Star
On a dark cloudless night,
I saw a tiny little star,
Twinkling shiny and bright,
From its peers above par.
I stood like a timid kid,
And dreamt if I could touch,
Twirling my fingers roundabout,
To mock its grab as such.
I wished I had the wings,
To fly up in the sky,
To hold that distant star,
That miles away so high.
Gazing through the clouds,
I sought its flashing light,
It played me hide and seek,
All through the sleepless night.
I thought if they ever meet,
Laying modest, meek and coy,
The angels in the sky,
To a mere earthly boy.
