The Day Everything Went Bonkers

The Day Everything Went Bonkers

I woke up this morning, the sun wore a hat,
My alarm clock was singing and dancing like that.
The toast jumped straight up and landed on my head,
While the butter ran screaming, “I’m not ready for bed!”

My socks were having a race on the floor,
The shoes joined in — oh, what a roar!
The cereal did flips, the milk did a dive,
Even my toothbrush tried to take a drive.

The cat wore sunglasses, the dog played the drum,
The goldfish was rapping, “Yo, here I come!”
The chair did a cartwheel, the table did too,
The lamp did a shimmy, and shouted, “Boo!”

My homework got tangled with spaghetti from lunch,
The stapler threw confetti — I had just one hunch.
The pancakes held a parade with syrup in hand,
While the orange juice formed a marching band.

I shouted, “Stop this!” but the kitchen said, “Nope!”
The fridge did a jig, the toaster did a slope.
I grabbed my backpack, I grabbed my hat,
Even the floor whispered, “We’re chasing you, brat!”

So I ran out the door, the world in full cheer,
I think I’ll just eat cereal… far from here.
