The Cry of Ajanta
The Cry of Ajanta
Inspired by the faith, the emperor
To meditate, preserve, employed artists
Sculptors, designers, labours who toiled
Hard to carve Ajanta sculpture
As the powerful empire declined
To destroy and eliminate the faith
The barbarians madly damaged the idols
Having compassion and truth
The unburnt royal flame spread
Far and wide across the world
Resulted in attracting thousands
Of followers the artists, the travellers
As they advance towards the caves
Marvelled with sculpture, colorful
Paintings to their misfortune, dismay
They notice the damaged images
When they find lord Buddha
Confined to fast asleep, tired
Of human sorrow and the suffering
Their happiness is hampered
Dumb in despair they stand
Before the great lord enlightened
"Like joy and sorrow, the creator
And destroyer co-exist until the end"
However the former is adorned
Admired all the time while
The later is undoubtedly the cause
Of contempt and hatred
