The Citadel
The Citadel
The two friends went out on an adventure
Their favourite places, where no one ventures
Their love for ruins of historical significance main
In deserted, dilapidated and haunted plains and terrain
They could hardly see any sign of mankind
But their interest lay in exploits of a different kind.
And that brought the twosome to track their find
A Citadel, once a place bustling with activity
Now in shambles and a forgotten entity
This is where a lovely and maiden, kind and thoughtful resided
Whose beauty was talked over and over and presided
As the two mounted the stairs of the relic of a building
An eerie feeling engulphed the entrance, foreboding
As if someone was awaiting their arrival or homecoming
In these tumbles of a glorious past, medieval living
A faint form of a woman, dressed in white standing there
Enclosing her arms around his friend and drawing him near
He felt like he was floating in the air of his own volition
White in the face, tried his best to leave the dereliction
Seeing his friend ensnared in her trails
He tried to scoot and jump over the rails
But wanting to drag him out of her clasp
Looked back, shocked at him shrinking further back
Whether it was out of fright or fight
Was a mystery which had no answer in sight
Helpless, and unable to do anything
He retracted and gathered his wits about him
Without a second glance, he ran as fast as he could
And lo behold, where their car was parked, his friend stood !!!
Was he the maiden's lover in her yester prime?
No wonder!! She let him go, she was so noble and kind.
