Big or small, short or tall

Passionately loved by one and all

Delectable dishes for young and old

I'd consider them worth more than gold

 

Wherever you go, you're bound to see

Shops and stores full of these

They are always accompanied by warm greets

Did you guess it, I'm talking of sweets!

 

Sweet O Sweet , what a delicacy 

Mere thought of one brings ecstasy

And the joy of gobbling them, one by one

Is unparalleled by food items, any other one

 

But a sweet is really an enigma, you know

Double-sided nature it does show

Indeed, it makes your day bright

But is also the cause for many a fight

 

Sweets also see much diversity

Various cultures offer a lot of variety

For sweets are made all over the globe

Whether it is Italy or Singapore

 

A few all-time favorites are:

Rasagolla, Chhena podo, Chhena gaja,

Chocolates, pastries,nougat and fudge,

Milkshakes and smoothies(what tasty sludge).

 

However as goes the saying - 

"All play and no work" is no good thing

An overdose of sweets can do much harm

Sometimes you'll have to keep it at the distance of an arm

 

Although they occasionally brew up a fight

And an extra large helping keeps you from sleeping at night

This is no reason to sulk and spoil your mood
