Special Defeat

There was something special about that defeat,

It carried a polite appeal to stay upbeat.

Even though the taste of victory wasn't there,

There was a sweet proud feeling of playing fair.

And not to forget the mention of the effort,

Which was the Crux of that feel good dirt.

Maybe the teachings in that loss were a treat,

That made this a lot very special case of defeat.
