Soul, You Have No Gender

Soul, You Have No Gender

Souls were moving, side by side, Some to heaven, some would hide. At the crossroad, paths were chosen, Mine stayed still, my path stayed frozen. Messengers came, asked me why, "Choose the eternal way, don't just stand by." I said, "I'm neither, in between — Third-hand soul, not clearly seen." One said, "Soul, you have no gender." One with sad eyes grew tender. Said, "Next life, pure man or she," I replied, "No, let me stay me. Let me know what I was, from birth, So I don't cheat love's true worth." Else I'll bear, till my last breath, Love's sweet lies instead of truth. Give me sympathy, give me kindness — Not love dressed up in blindness. — Jyothi Sankar
