Silenced
Silenced
Hush! Hark!
Dare not light the flame
In the dark!
For thy flame shall
Burn the veil. And
Undress the concealed shame.
Thou, who lusts
To be the torchbearer
Must anon return’st to dust
Ere thy light unblinds
The mortal sight.
For if it succeeds
Clawing through the thickest cloud
Of sermonic disguise
The cherubs would
Cruise free fluttering their wings
The wind would whisper
Our vices far and wide
The rock, the river and the trees
Would scream out
The deeds unright.
