Had the clay lamented
On getting moulded,
Would the pretty vase still stand
In the corner of your room?
Had the gold turned black
While upon the fire,
Would it still be locked
In safe?
Had the marble grumbled
About getting chiselled,
Would the sculpture be admired
By the countless eyes?
Had the stone grieved
Upon being filed,
Would a diamond
Take birth?
Had the pearl sobbed
On getting pierced,
Would it be adorned
Around your neck?
Had a tiny sapling succumbed
To the raging wind
Would the earth relish
An orchard?
Had you given up
At your first fall,
Could you stand today
Upright and tall?
