Shallow, We Are...

Shallow, We Are...

I see it in your eyes, in all your white lies,

A smile that gleams, as perfect as it seems.

But a demon lays within, slowly peels off its skin,

I eventually see dark colors,

With a camouflage bright the black, subtly uncovers.

A castle which was once full of wisdom,

Now lays collapsed in its own kingdom,

Relation demeans as friends turn foes,

People with several faces you get to know once you grow.

A mirage now tells me what it is,

Expecting snake not to ambush its prey with its hiss,

But thankfully! finally I see it in your shadow,

Realizing the depth was always dark and shallow.
