The idea that India is one

Has got divided permanently

By the twin dividers

Religion and Security.

As if God is not one

And religions cannot

Co-exist.

And that one religion

Alone is causing

Insecurity.

Peddlers

Are peddling their wares

Hungry people

Swallow as if an ambrosia

This is not India

Of my dreams

Instead of ascent

Into an economic power

Has dissented into a

A nation where people cower

Made the neighbors hostile

Life has become a travail.

Whither went the vision

Led into the second partition.
