Republic Day
Republic Day
73rd anniversary of Republic Day,
Words written by wise men, whom we pray.
But isn’t it impulsive to put in your full faith?
To a generation who wrote them as per their decade.
Isn’t it fair to put in our thoughts?
To resolve the matters which remain unsought?
The ones which were flawless but are today at fault.
Saddened to say, the work isn’t over yet,
India, she still faces some lingering threats.
Our ancestors freed us from the Brits,
Set up a constitution, so that we don’t fret.
But isn’t it our responsibility?
To look after what they cared for the most?
Free her from the chains of bigotry,
Corruption and hate-proliferating ghosts.
Are greed and pride actually superior to selflessness?
And is a show of power actually superior to kindness?
Why must we let brainwashers blindly guide us?
Why don’t we look at the bigger picture?
To take India to heights, to truly liberate her.
We are after all her only elixir,
Her own “Knight in shining armour”.
On this 73rd anniversary,
Let us put our differences aside,
And look up to those who died with pride.
Let us think of ourselves as Indians,
And help our Goddess fly high.
