Reflections

Reflections

The ticking of the wall clock,

The intermittent shudder of the panes,

As the rain drops tap my windows, gently,

Emboldened by the amorous breeze,

Interrupting my reverie.

My uncensored reflections,

Monopolizing the empty pages,

My mirror, my solace,

The showers decide to take a break,

The sun debuts with a smirk,

Making a feeble attempt,

To spread some warmth ,

The busy bird pecking at the fallen fruit,

Pauses to catch my gaze.

Does the tree worry about the fallen fruit

And its future?

Did the tree shake off the fruit?

Unburdening itself

Or was it the fruit

Ripe and mature, breaking free

To follow its fate.

Did the youngster leave?

Its itching wings yearning,

To touch the skies.

Or did the grande dame lock the larder?

Once the junior started flying,

Did she nudge him out mercilessly?

Or set him free to follow his heart?

The pregnant cloud, now relieved,

Having conveyed the droplets,

To their space,

The river meandering,

Finding its course,

Flowing away,

From its source.

The invisible umbilical cord,

Continues to tug at the heart,

The urge to hold on tight, gaining

An upper hand over

The will to let go.

Is she safe?

Does she have enough cash, cake and condoms?

Boundless concerns,

Groundless doubts.

Grow up, you procreator!

Bonds made, the world introduced,

Your assignment complete,

Stop clinging!

There is a time,

To play, to protect

To lecture and to guide

Now, step aside.

Go fill your cup,

Quench your thirst

Fill in the empty pages

Of your diary

Your mirror, your solace.
