Promises Kept
Promises Kept

She walked on the beach lost in her thoughts,
Furiously working on joining the dots;
The circling seagulls flapped their wings around her,
But all she saw was just big cloud of white blur!
His letter was still tucked in her pocket,
Like his picture which nestled in her locket;
Hidden from prying eyes and doubting Thomases,
Only she and he knew they intended to keep their promises!
His words had made her heart skip a beat,
Without him she had always felt incomplete;
Anticipation had sent her heart fluttering;
Love for him was now blooming and flowering!
He had gone to his meet his
parents to seek their blessings,
Their approval of his choice had left both of them guessing;
It was not a simple case of yes or no,
Being of different faiths, it was an uphill task from the word go!
But though orthodox his family had surprised him no end,
When in a moment, they their support did extend;
They were not bothered they said, about the differences,
What mattered to them the most was their son's happiness!
Joyously he had penned his exciting news,
He was coming to get her to take away her blues;
Nothing can now keep them apart,
They had before them their whole life to chart!
