Poem Of Angst

Absolute power corrupts absolutely, they say

Yet millions have reposed their faith

Will corruption take the driver’s seat?

The rainbow colours of the diverse nation

Will they bow to the saffron?

Ram and Rahim are one, they say

Will only Ram remain now?

Lies, damn lies and statistics, they say

If Statistics are shown the stick

Will we be left with lies and damn lies?

Swachch Bharat in the past phase

India cleared of all opposition

What remains are institutions.

Swachch Bharat in phase beyond

Will the institutions be cleared too?

Is this the beginning of an end

Or dawn for the new beyond?

Will all go forward in going forward

Or the forwards will go past the rest in a backward march?

Words pour out in angst from my soul

As fingers strike the keys left, right and center

As if in a march past, from the here and now to beyond.
