She was my second mother,

The solution to each of my crises.

Was my aunt, We called her Appu,

Beloved, she was there at my rescue.

Whether I needed money,

Banker, upright she would readily be.

If I wanted to shop or watch a movie,

She would be ready to escort in malls and theater queue.

My shield she would become,

When my biological mom with a stick would run(behind me).

In short, she was a dear friend in disguise,

Best bond to date, I ever had.

I got married she was happy as well as sad,

Her small angel had left the band.

Life was going at its rhythm,

When one day, my world had impeded.

She was diagnosed with CA of the intestine,

We had never imagined cancer hitting our tribe.

We have diabetes and heart issues running innate,

But Ca was out of our family gate.

She fought like a warrior I must assert,

O, God save everyone from the dreaded chemo pellets.

She was broken from inside but never vented out,

My aunt chuckled every moment with a pout.

"Appu" was proud of her strand,

But they too had shed off after some period.

We could not discern her suffering,

Why did God make her prey to this demon?

One day she was tired of agony,

She succumbed to the fate of Almighty.

Appu had abode to bliss,

I am sure my Granny would caress her and kiss.

My second mother vanished,

This thought by me still ain't digested.

I can feel her presence near,

"Ummi, I am here", Whispers of her voice still prevails.

With tears ending this verse. I so miss her.
