Onam the Harvest festival

Onam it's time to celebrate harvest festival in every home,

Floral patterns of different hues different colours you see,

In every home, you are always invited and welcome,

In God's own shadow, in his own country,

The happiness you see on every face, at best,

Symbolises a feeling of love, that everyone, do need.

Come home, have sadhya, (feast ) be my guest,

Irrespective of your caste, or your creed.

Just look at the greenery, and the blooming flowers,

The breathtaking scene of the streams, making its way,

The coconut trees, the paddy stalks, the sudden showers,

Kerala is decked like a bride today.

The legend of mahabali the great king of yore,

Is told and retold, in every home, where he is welcome,

The king's story, now part of the festivals folk Lore,

It is said on Onam, the doors are kept open for the king, who visits every home.

So let us celebrate onam in a solemn way;

For we are all in the grip of a virus, that has come to stay, it's true,

we shall follow instructions, to keep this invader at bay,

Till we are victorious, we will see that day too.
