Novice Mind, I Mean

Novice Mind, I Mean

I believe that poem has a role

To awake the humanity as a whole of the world,

To address rampant inhumanity,

And, to get Peace,

Practice to live with a smile, and

With love, is necessary.

Notice the goodness in heart,

Difficulties of a human, and

Be grateful for them for their help,

Showing love to others,

Who they are and

Find compassion for their struggles.

Living between dreams and

Nightmares,

Living in illusions of

Believing in things

That never existed,

Believing in false friends

That would give hurts,

Breaking heart

Due to distress and sufferings.

A lot of our troubles could be solved

By one simple practice,

Dropping ideas of

How they should be and

Instead emptying your mind and

Seeing them as they are.

A lot of joy is found with the practice,

And it is simple,

A practice seeing life

With a beginner’s mind,

A simple habit of taking

Three steps for making change in life,

That fearless action finding one's purpose,

 Training according to that purpose

And in inner self to believe

The approach the thing with Novice Mind,

And dropping the expert’s mind

Because one cannot be

Master of all trades,

In that way of life pillars of

Fearless living can be achieved

Inside the soul.

Novice mind, I mean

To drop our expectations and

Preconceived ideas

About something, and

To see things with an open mind,

Fresh eyes, just like child,

As one cannot learn something new,

With curiosity and wonder,

That’s the child mind.

For example, when I go to take food,

I look at the food,

The bowl,

The spoon, and

Try to see the details

That I might not normally notice,

And thereby I truly notice

The textures,

Tastes, smells,

Sights of the food,

Everything seems new, full of wonder,

And appreciate every bite as a gift,

Having better experiences,

Better tastes and the anxiety is met.

Of course, I’m not saying

All of this happens automatically,

It takes practice,

But it’s worth the practice.
