Strange World

This world is a strange place,

Nations separate us,

As humanity unites us.

The world is a strange place,

We fight for pieces of land,

As pieces of the family fall apart.

The world is a strange place,

In life, we represent our nation,

In death, all pray in unison!

The world is a strange place,

Much diversity across many a country,

Yet there are folks hungry everywhere!

The world is a strange place,

A gentle meteor tap can obliterate the human race,

Who cares! Everyone is busy fuelling arms race!

The world is a strange place,

So much discrimination with caste, creed and even colour of skin,

Yet deep inside, the red colour of blood is akin!

The world is a strange place,

So many differences,

Yet the many facets are same everywhere!

The world is a strange place,

Where else would you find such selfless love of the mother?

Or such affection of the brother?

The world is a strange place,

Where else would you find five-year-olds getting destroyed?

Or the innocents getting punished?

The world is a strange place,

A flag here and a flag there,

A border here, a demarcation there!

The world is a strange place,

The greats have drawn physical borders,

The dictators have passed orders!

The world is a strange place,

This is my zone and that is yours,

I don't care if you die, I'll acquire all yours!

The world is a strange place,

I am still okay with the physical border,

At least I'll be careful as I wander!

But mental borders are disturbing!

I can't visualise how you are discriminating!

Have you put up flags in your heart too?

This heart is of similar color!

And possibly odour!

That heart is alien!

"Go away, keep mov'in!"

The world is indeed a strange place!

I hope we all find some solace,

And identify ourselves above narrow boundaries,

While embracing love and peace!
