My Mother Has Never Been There

My Mother Has Never Been There

'My mother has never been there for me',

Thought the stupid little girl,

Unaware of

The ways of this world.

She had so much to see,

So many places she was yet to be,

Who was to tell her that it was an achievement on its own,

To continue to strive this hard and yet live sanely.

"Where is the woman who gave me birth"

She would think,

When her mother left her to daycare

And struggled to make a living.

"Look at other parents, look at mine"

She would silently exclaim,

When society made sure

Her mother's little freedom is defamed.

She sat there judging her mother's morals,

Not once experiencing the turmoil of choice,

Her silly fore plays and childish dismays,

Making her believe, that was the most one could get of life.

What could have, I wonder

Inspire her to an act this shameful

She must definitely think it was a piece of cake

To be a poor, single parent and yet be hopeful.

By trying to end her own life in despise,

She stays oblivious to what she killed,

Now that she is saved and sees, will she realize

That in her mother's name, even her death is being billed.
