My Lovable Bihar
My Lovable Bihar
Here's a longer poem about the Indian state of Bihar:
Oh, land of ancient wisdom, how I love thee
With all thy history and heritage
Thy fields are green and thy rivers wide
And I love to wander by their side
Thy people are warm and full of heart
And I love to see them as they start
Their day with a smile and a laugh
And to feel the love that they have
For Bihar is a land of many tales
Of kings and queens and ancient trails
Of temples and mosques and holy shrines
And of the people who have stood the test of time
From the ancient city of Pataliputra
To the banks of the mighty Ganges river
Bihar has always been a land of pride
Of culture and tradition that never died
For it is in Bihar that the Buddha found
The path to enlightenment that he expounded
And it is in Bihar that the great emperor Ashoka
Built his empire and spread his dharma
From the ruins of Nalanda University
To the temples of Bodh Gaya and Rajgir
Bihar is a land of pilgrimage and devotion
Of faith and spirituality that knows no motion
And yet, Bihar is a land of many faces
Of struggles and challenges that it embraces
Of poverty and inequality that it fights
And of the people who strive to make things right
For Bihar is a land of resilience and hope
Of people who rise above the problems they cope
Of farmers who till the land with their sweat
And of women who break the chains of their debt
From the fields of wheat and rice that grow
To the industries that drive the state's growth
Bihar is a land of endless possibilities
Of opportunities that are waiting to be seized
For it is in Bihar that the future lies
Of a state that is ready to rise
Of a people who are ready to shine
And of land that is ready to be divine
So here's to you, my beloved Bihar
May you always be full of love and charm
And may I always feel connected to thee
For you will always be a part of me.
