Movie Theater
As the trailers started to play
time paused itself;
there you sat next to me.
smothered in a sweater,
crunchy snacks packed
sugary liquid hid.
Bangs curtained your face,
your eyes peeked like blinds;
I wanted to look through you.
the movie was at half,
your giggles followed my laugh,
your foot grazed my calf.
How could I focus
when I’m fantasizing
about our own story.
film lit up the screen,
but the way the light
projected onto your face
kept me watching you.
You looked left
and I looked right,
we exchanged a glance
best scene of the night.
Lights turned on,
credits rolled in,
you went your way
and I went mine.
If you felt like I did
and it felt equal,
then our movie
will have a sequel.
