Morning Coffee
Morning Coffee
Like the first sip of coffee
Scalding your tongue, numbing your pain
Relieving only for a moment
To immerse in bitter sweetness
Hand in hand we walked along pavements
Sinking in our own world
Totally aloof from the maddening crowd
You caught in my smile, amongst the deafening sounds
The bizarre carelessness drove you crazy
The towels that wrapped our dreams together
Lay stranded lonely on the rod
The couch that shared our moments
Lie vacant and pensive
The countryside we traversed
Makes me nauseous
The breeze that caressed us
Weeps over the memories
I turn around the corner, trying hard to leave
Trying to sustain the glimpses to be treasured in everlasting memory
