Memories!
Memories!
(To a friend and sister who lost three brothers)
I sit in solace and sway to-
A sistering vale with memories of yore.
In the lap of mountains, the knells I'd hark,
The morning brume-behold!
The dale's soil is entrusted with-
The corpse of my two Lil heroes.
And one in the lap of Himalayas-Ah!
My heart grieves for thee left too soon.
Thy life ephemeral-thy memories are eternal.
Rise and see thy sisters-vestal nymphs.
Come swaying with the zephyr-anon come!
Kiss my cheeks, hark my dulcet lilts.
Stand for me the parable of a bulwark;
For this world is vicious-hurry!
Thy lambent eye I long to see,
Thy joyous laughs I'd hark!
And put thy head on my chest;
Till thee fall asleep.
Be my light on a moonless night,
For I tread in dark- I fear-
The white sepukheres and the chimeras
Who now come nigh-how art thee asleep?
In susurrations, I'd speak to thee
Of my joys and woes and sorrows!
To play and laugh with thee, my brother-
And sit with thee-under the azure sky-Rise!
