Let Them Whisper Lies

Withdrawing the dreams that grow in my head,

Each night seems drearier as I lay down.

Each day, an untamed mess of a billion thoughts.

The lies that not only fog my vision,

But also manipulate my grounds.

Fabricating the doubts which I never knew I could have,

Not on anybody, but, my own self.

Those moments, I try to silence my mind,

It shouts what I can't rectify, and that,

Certainly, doesn't help.

I fear, to fail, and that's why I fail, to try,

"Being scared is better than being a failure",

Don't tell me you deny.

Learning is not what I want, I wish to fulfill expectations,

After all, we're humans, each one, seeking validation.

Fear of disappointments shake up my insides, my soul,

Leave me to drown, as the waves rise and the thunder rolls.

Voices of critics catch up volume,

They're none other than my thoughts.

And that's why I hear them the highest,

And others, they don't, at all.

How do I tell myself, a tale of my own bravery? 

How do I calm my seas, that resist being a slave?

How do I narrate myself a reassurance?

How do I cease this unhealthy trade?

So, I don't..

I don't, not because, I can't,

But, because sometimes, that's the only window to my flaws.

Rather, I weave a beautiful dawn,

Preparing myself for a new chapter of my life.

Without paying heed, I'll do my best,

Letting these voices whisper lies...
