My Father

You waited for me to hatch from egg,

A little caterpillar with tiny legs.

I wiggled around from here to there,     Looking for food everywhere.

You taught me how to chew my food,

Which leaf is bad, which fruit is good.

While walking on the ground and trees,     Can you take care of me please?

There are scary things all around,

But you stood by me like a growling hound.

Sometimes I lost in my battle fields,

You made sure I carried my own shields.

Now I am ready for the next phase,

Resting a bit before going to world stage.

You stood by my little cocoon,

Protecting me from hail, storm, sun and moon.

I saw you outside through little crack,

Waved my hands to pull me back.

You said "Some things in life you need to do alone,

Grit and determination is your cornerstone."

As I slowly open my wings,

Your happy eyes had a watery tinge.

Let's explore the world together now,

Our team together is just so wow.

I thank you for everything you have done,

You are the best father ever, second to none.

I love you from the core of my heart,

For making me strong, kind and smart.
