Just Like Me
Just Like Me
On my right sits a girl,
Just like me.
She likes to draw she likes to paint,
Just like me.
Hair tied in a braid so tight,
She wears a pretty smile so bright!
She doesn't seem to talk too much,
She doesn't seem to go out and play.
She has a throne she calls her own,
She wears her imaginary crown.
Her eyes are full of hope and love,
She wishes to soar the sky like a dove.
Although her heart dances with glee,
For one day she wishes to be set free.
For at once I look at her feet;
Shackles tied to them underneath.
She cannot walk she cannot run,
Just like me!
A gifted heart, a gifted soul,
A gift we get to share,
Feeble feet but an enduring grit,
Our spirits are always lit.
Someday we will walk, we will talk and run,
We'll play in the woods and have much fun!
And there a pretty picture she shall paint of a girl,
Who looks just like me!
