Journey
Journey
I've set on an endless journey,
Alone on a sullen night;
I've stammered and stopped several times
In horror and in fright.
Many others paired in twos,
But I walked on, alone;
Until I passed the eerie bridge,
And wept by the mossy stone.
I've wiped teardrops from my face,
Alone on a sullen night;
I've chanted many mystic rhymes,
Bathing in dim moonlight.
Many others grouped in threes,
But I walked on alone;
Until I passed the railway yard,
And my eyes full of tears shone.
I sang a few hymns of love,
Alone on a sullen night;
I walked along silent farms,
And tears blurred my sight.
Many others joined in fours,
But I walked on alone;
Until tears wet my rosy cheeks,
And I uttered a low moan.
I've wet my feet in a blue lake,
Alone on a sullen night;
And I'll walk on, even if alone,
Until I win this fight.
