Imperfection
Imperfection
And when you saw me, you found stardust shining in my eyes
And a smile on my lips woven like silver linings.
And when you saw me you thought you've found joy in my form
And your burning passion started to rise.
And when you saw me, you saw sprinkles of glee all over me.
You thought you've found a fairy on this crooked earth.
Reviving your long lost smile, maybe your life could restart.
And when you saw me, you saw an art, waiting for you to admire.
You felt an urge to come closer, deep somewhere in your heart .
And that's how you stood there, picturing our life together.
That's why you kept standing, wondering how life's worth living.
But,
I want you to take a closer look, beneath the cover, there's a different book.
I want you to see what I don't show, the core of me that I hide.
Where pain, grief, sorrow and some hidden fear confide.
There are tears that I never allowed to roll down my cheek,
There are some unwanted feelings that I still keep.
There are a lot of wounds left to heal, a lot of love I long to feel.
Underneath my smile, there are some shattered pieces of my heart. You know, i never tried to fix them, just put them aside.
I want you to see how much I hide.
I would still warn you when to try to get near.
With a firm voice, I would tell you, "watch out! Its dark in here".
Would you still look at me with the same amazement in your gaze?
Would you still embrace this art? Or would you wait for the scars to fade?
When you finally get to see my bare soul,
Would you plant your kisses? Gentle and careful?
Or would you get scared of the darkness inside?
Giving me another reason to hide this side?
Just as you saw in me, a safe place where you can elope,
Even I saw in you a candle of hope.
But i didn't light it yet with my warmth of affection.
As it might gleam enough to show you my imperfection.
