Open a magazine, open a book,

Appears to be interesting, I’ll take a look,

The soundtrack in my brain stirs,

The print before my eyes blur.

Then it starts, “They're lying,

They don’t tell the truth; it’s only,

Opinion: biased at that, then it starts,

Singing, tra la la la ba boom. Gotcha!

I refuse to give in and shake my head to clear,

the flies (flies in your head? Yuck!),

I read on. The noise increases in volume,

Lies, biased, propaganda, you’re being tricked.

Maybe I am, I still want to know to read it,

The voices are dancing together’ how can this be?

A primitive rhythm makes it hard to concentrate,

Drums beating, beating, beating, don’t. Won't stop.

Lies, bias, propaganda, you’re being tricked,

They smile. In your heart of hearts, you know,

They’re wicked, deceitful and ready to confuse,

A situation, in which you must surely refuse.

Refuse? Refuse! Refuse: such a clever word,

Ambiguous, one might say, multiple meanings,

Have you put out the refuse? The Rubbish,

Oh! that! Yes, I have. Take that magazine and rip it,

Tip it, throw it away; dispose of it; be clean in mind,

As in body. Body? Somebody? Anybody?

Open a magazine, open a book,

Appears to be interesting, I’ll take a look.

The soundtrack in my brain stirs,

The print before my eyes blur and slur,

Anything for a bit of Variety!
