When sadness makes me sad,

When I find none to console,

When I find my tattered soul,

When I reach the utmost limits of hurt,

When I feel drenched and threaten and thwart,

When I touch the wounded heart of mine,

When I need a soul divine,

And when I lie and lose and loss

And when I see the ocean across,

When I feel twisted and tossed,

And ruined and crushed and crumpled and crossed,

I just find a lonely me...
