Would you imagine the absence of its aroma? 

Whether sweet or spice, it lends a delight. 

Can anything else have such an essence? 

Through ages, it has marked its presence. 

A gift of nature from a divine creature. 

From an infant to the old, all of them it does nurture. 

The juices of digestion rile up to its sight. 

Even a dull & tasteless meal, makes alright  

The fire to please the Gods, gains from it the heat. 

Turning offerings to blessings is its might.

No matter the food, dense or light. 

It brings out the taste, & lets them shine bright. 

Numerous diseases were kept at bay. 

By our ancestors who took it night & day. 

Before they were unleashed with a colonial storm. 

With a stigma, it was painted & made unpleasant. 

The hungry pockets, to sell insoluble fats, 

Branded it as a disease with manufactured facts. 

Shedding a boon we choose the bane of refined oils

Bargaining with our well-being & losing a healthy bliss. 

But, just like sunshine which can only be concealed, 

It reappears as a favorite on everyone's plate. 

Though the plan to dismantle it from the diet hasn't faded, 

Its antiquity & piety won't let it be tramped by false modernity.
