Abstract Tragedy Others

G I Joe

G I Joe

My given name is Joseph

They call me G-I-Joe

There's quite a bit about me I think you need to know

Can you spare me just a dollar?

A deuce?

Or maybe five?

I'm a United States Veteran

that made it out alive

Done two tours in Vietnam

Seen my share of blood

Bodies scattered everywhere rotting in the mud

Napalm falling from the sky

We burnt them to the ground

Death

Carnage

Rotting stench, everywhere around

The smell of decomposing souls stunk up all the air

We killed all of the villagers but no one seemed to care

It truly was a senseless war that was plain to see

No regard for human life or human decency

The order came from higher-up

kill everyone alive

Not a single living soul was spared-not one of them survived

When you fight in someone else’s war, there'll be a price to pay

Aroused a lot of protest in the USA

The lucky soldiers made it back but some did not return

The trauma that these men endured was hard to discern

It didn't have to happen

This was not our war

Here in lies the problem

It's gonna happen more

Can you spare me just a dollar? A deuce?

or maybe five?

I’m a United States veteran who’s made it out alive

There's quite a bit about me that I thought you need to know

My given name is Joseph

Just call me G-I-Joe.
