Frazer's Heroism
Frazer's Heroism
Thurber, the callous old jeweler
For a pet had a stray dog named Frazer,
Feeding him only once a day,
Giving a ten-rupee note away;
And that was all he thought;
But donated lakhs
of rupees to many a charitable trust;
One night returning
home from his shop,
As he tried to get in
he was made to stop
By some masked men;
One took his cash-filled
leather bag,
another his finger rings
and yet another his thick gold chain.
Frazer appeared on the scene
And understood what it did mean;
The dog barked furiously and hard;
Soon arrived his fierce indignant squad
Of some fifteen dogs,
And some leapt
at the necks of the thugs;
Their violent barking
was so scary sinister and loud,
That there soon gathered a vast crowd;
The robbers were caught
And a sweet lesson taught.
Thurber had a big kennel built,
Providing the strays each a quilt
To save them from the wintry days,
And gave them tasty good food always.
