Floating Shark
Floating Shark
There’s a floating shark in my house.
Sometimes it swims through the snow
Laden trees and at times through the
Empty hallway. He does not follow any
Signals or traffic rules, but expects others
To do just the same! One day I wore a yellow
Safety coat and ventured to take him by his jaws.
I stood in front of him, staring him in the eyes,
a fire lit beneath us. I asked him what is it
about this ‘give and take’ that you so
emphasize on. Why can’t you love for the sake of it?
He said, “That is the way I am.”
I said, “In that case maybe we really cannot be living together.”
As I walked away, his teeth started falling off and
He wailed a sigh. That is when I realized he was feeding off from me.
I hurried myself to bid goodbye.
I was only a tiny duckling in the pool of life.
That is what I thought at the least
Until I saw him deter when I was gone.
He then raged his eyes in despair as the fire
underneath us grew and took him away.
I stood there quietly knowing that it is not
My purview to give way.
For each one needs to take responsibility
For his or her own life. You cannot expect someone to be nice,
When they are back-stabbed with a knife!
