First Snow

Like the snowflakes falling through the skies 

I fell for you in the first snowfall 

The winter came with you and froze my tears 

Delicate and beautiful

As the snowflake I loved you 

Leaving transient footprint trails on the snow

You made me laugh like no one else 

On our favourite song 

As we danced together 

In your eyes I saw my dreams 

Your hugs kept me warmer than the fire and I kissed you under the mistletoe 

Together we were complete like the star on the Christmas tree

From far away the snowman we made smiled at me 

The storm did hit though 

The winds took our trails away snowflakes turned into ice

 The winds blew the fire away

For the first time the winters felt cold

 Scratches on the ice Scars on the heart 

Finally, I was the storm 

Left us with broken hearts

 But not every match is made in the skies after all 

As the snow melted we were gone 

I went back home and looked at that you left in my Christmas sock the things even Santa couldn't bring me they were all the memories we cherished 

A year later, writing our story I posted the letter thanking you it dropped through your chimney in the first snow
