Euthanasia

They unplugged the ventilator,                                                                                                       

  Having suffered enough,                                                                                                                

  He decided it was time;                                                                                                                  

That it was not worth enduring.

They showed mercy,                                                                                                                        

 Unfettering the shackles of pain.                                                                                                   

         He slept peacefully,                                                                                                                      

  Never to wake up again.

At least he's in a good place now,                                                                                                        

   Said they, fighting back the tears.                                                                                                      

    It was all for the greater good,                                                                                                         

  Now the peaceful veil of death he wears.

Succumbed to pain, having lived enough,                                                                                                

   done enough, suffered enough.
